About (Biography)
Born November 29,1960 Melody Jane Small in Keokuk, IA to Hope and (Stanley Small) of Wyaconda, Missouri author M.J. Carroll grew up on a farm in a rural community with two sisters Molly and Michele, and a brother Michael.
She attended Wyaconda and Clark County R-1 elementary schools, and graduated from Clark County R-1 High School in 1978. She was the Old Settler's Princess, and selected amongh the High Schools Who's Who in 1976-77 and 1977-78. She also placed among the writers of the Columbus Essay Contest. Later she attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Melody was encouraged at a young age in her creative writing by her mother,Hope Small.
Melody (Small) Carroll actively took part in the school plays at Kahoka, MO
first in the Glass Menagerie, and later in the Haunting of HillHouse.
She married (Jerry Carroll) in 1976 -2007 and they have three daughters. Lala Carroll Green, who now resides in Evanston, IL. Lanna Carroll, North Liberty, IA, and Letty Carroll of Iowa City, IA.
Melody has three grandchildren Kylie, Parker, and Oliver.
As an experienced writer she has challenged herself with various writing projects for over thirty years. Melody worked with United Methodist Publishing House on a five year religious curriculum project 1995-2000. Her poetry has touched readers worldwide, along with magazine articles on various topics for magazines such as LOTTA LUK, YOUR CHURCH, COMMUNIQUE, and CONNECTIONS. She contributed to the book, YOUR CHURCH THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO Saving Money and Buying Smart published 1998 by Broadmand and Holman.
M.J. Carroll is the broker/owner of Carroll Real Estate, Inc. located in Iowa City, IA. She has held several specialized designations over the years and enjoys providing her clients with a personalized real estate service.
